根据他在中国生活20年的经验与观察，马意骏认为，中国的治理方式重视民生和社会价值观，强调孝道和家庭观念，理解这二者的结合就有助于理解中国这3年来严格政策和最近进行调整的原因。

他强调了今后对老年人的保护问题。随着保护性限制的减少，因为中国老年人疫苗接种率低于总体水平，这一问题应得到特别关注。
